Ancillary Development

I then began working on editing my principle photography images for my Magazine Advert in Photoshop. I have decided to edit a few selected images and consult my group to select the final image.

I have began by editing out the green screen using the 'Magic Wand Tool' and using the 'Quick Selection Tool' to select different parts of the image to adjust the colour. I have also added effects on the image itself.

As a group we reviewed our footage that was filmed in the woods and renamed the files that we wish to use, as well as recording the re shoots we need to do after careful analysis of each clip.

Green and White screen

We used the green and white screens to create some more photos for our ancillary tasks, using thses means it is easier to photoshop the images, and is therefore ideal when creating posters, magazine adverts, t-shirts etc.

Filming Begins

We began filming on 16th November, we started off the day by having a group discussion to finalise the different locations we plan on using in our music video. We decided to start our filming in Franks Park woods, we chose this location first as it was the closest and we knew exactly what shots we wanted from there. We then took time to sort Hair, Make up, costume etc considering our theme, we used black and red for her make up and costume.

Principle Photography

On Firday 12th November, the group came together to take pictures for the ancillary tasks.

The locations we visited were:
Franks Park Woods
A Cafe
Steps
Erith Pier
Erith Train station

We also used the green screen to take some of our pictures. All of the pictures taken will be featured on the website and selected pictures for each member of the groups ancillary tasks.

These are some of the photos i took, and plan on using in my Ancillary tasks:

I feel that the day went very well, and we got a range of Photos using a range of different camera angles and shots which can be used in many of t Ancillary tasks.

I feel all the photos fit the theme and follow the codes and conventions of our genre and storyline.

Principle Photography

On the 1st of November 2010 our group had a meeting to discuss the different types of photography we would each need to complete our ancillary tasks. We decided that we would book out a camera and tripod for Friday 12th of November. On this day we will visit a range of different locations including a train station and woods before returning to school to use both the green and white screens.

I am goin to create some plans for my photographs, considering costumes, lighting and locations.  I will first start looking at the research i have collected t help me know what styles of photos i need to take. I will also look at original images of Vannessa Carlton to give me some ideas.

Ancillary Task Research- Booklet

I plan on creating a booklet/program to be sold at the concerts, it will contain information such as, behind the scenes Interviews, Photoshoots and pull out posters. I will begin my research by looking at an existing concert program.

When analysing this program cover, i focused on the codes and conventions, thing i noticed are:

One main image- often of the artist/band
Little or no text
Consistant colour
Consistent fon and font size

Initial Ideas- Brainstorm:

Initial Ideas- Sketches:

Ancillary Task Research- Magazine advert

I started of by researching different magazine adverts using the internet and magazines. This is one  of the examples I will be analysing:
It is clear to see form these examples the there is a constant theme running through the advertising and the product. This is something I will have to consider when creating the magazine adverts.

I also compared each advert making note of similarities and differences:

Similarities
Have and image
Band or artists name positioned at the top
Picture usually covering a large area of the advert
Album and band name
Different font sizes for different sections
Consistent fonts
Differences
Different backgrounds/ images
Different font colours
I used my research to put together initial ideas, sketches and detailed designs

Initial ideas- Brainstorms

Initial Ideas-Poll

I created a poll and questioned 20 people. This would give me an insight into what it is about an advert that attracts our target audience to buying the CD.

The questions and results:

Do you prefer simple or bold colours in an advertisment?
Yes: 11
No: 9

Do you prefer on main image or lots of small iages?:
One main: 19
Lots small: 1

Do you like lots of information to read on an advertisement?
Yes:4
No:16

I will use all the information i have gathered when creaing my final magazine advert.

Ancillary tasks- The beginning..

We had a group meeting to discuss the next stage in our production work. We decided that we would start by arranging dates, times and the hiring of equipment, for principle photography for our ancillary tasks. We decided that we would use the green screen for our pictures as well as locations.
Now we have a date and time each member of our group is going to research their selected ancillary tasks in detail to ensure our own products fit with the codes and conventions as is in keeping with existing print material.

I am going to start by creating spider diagrams, sketches and mood boards to discover what I will need to include when creating my magazine adverts and leaflet/booklet.
